God’s Masterpiece

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew
in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10

Do you know you are God’s masterpiece, a work of art that began at your conception? (Psalm 139:13)  The dictionary defines masterpiece as ‘a person’s greatest work of art’.  It makes me smile to know Someone feels that way about me, that I could be Someones greatest work of art. Just like a lot of others, I have a past….bad choices I made and bad things that happened in my life. I lived ‘in’ my past for so long and didn’t think I could ever look at myself as Someones greatest work of art.  But, today I know I am a masterpiece, designed in His image, created for great things, to have a future and a hope. He who began this great work, will finish it!  It took me quite a long time to ‘know’ this, it took building a relationship with Him to understand it. Now when I look in the mirror I see what He sees…..a beautiful creation, His treasure, His Masterpiece. I might not always get ‘it’ right, but He loves me and I am His work in progress.

There is so much in God’s word that tells me I am His treasure, His masterpiece:

The mountains and hills may crumble, but my love for you will never end, so says the Lord who loves you. Isaiah 54:10

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works and my soul knows it very well  Psalm 139:13-14 (NASB)

The king is enthralled by my beauty Psalm 45:11 (NIV)

God feeds the birds and you are far more valuable to Him than any birds. Luke 12:24 (NLT)

…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:3 (NIV)

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 (NIV)

God says I am valuable.
God says I am loved.
God says I am created in His image.
God says I am beautiful.
God says I am healed of my broken heart.
God says I am lovable.
God says I am an oak of righteousness.
God says I am His treasured possession.

My past is just that, my past, it doesn’t define who I am today…instead I walk In God’s thoughts towards me so that he can continue to ‘enhance’ me to be what He purposed and planned for me!

Is there someone you know that needs to be told they are God’s Masterpiece?

 Blessings!
