New York City

I recently flew to New York on business and took the opportunity to hang out with our good friends, the Penlands, while I was there. They moved back to NY a few years ago and I take every chance I can to see them (miss them tons!). DeLeassa picked me up near my hotel in Times Square and drove me to the Bronx to eat with ‘the family’! Yum…we had hibachi at a place called Edo’s. It was my first experience with hibachi and I loved it! The kids are growing so fast and had lots to tell me. After dinner we drove over to their new house. They bought it back in the fall and I had only seen photos, it is beautiful….built in 1915. We didn’t have too much time to visit before it was time to drive me back to the hotel. But we did catch up some more on the drive back. Let me insert here, that the NYC traffic is really as crazy as you see it on t.v! I had to work the next day, but we planned dinner for that evening…just the two of us. I got done early so we had more time to talk! She met me at the hotel and we walked (in the crazy, you feel like you are swimming upstream, mob of people) down the street to Bubba Gump’s. As we headed out DeLeassa told me the Naked Cowboy was out….really? I had never heard of him and was a little shocked that someone could stand on the street corner naked! Deleassa laughed and told me he had on tightie whities…and he did! Not sure what all the fuss is about him…I mean if he isn’t really naked, why is he called the Naked Cowboy? And he isn’t all that fantastic…Keith looks way better in his tightie whiteys, so I wasn’t impressed! Okay , maybe a little, since is a celebrity!
Dinner at Bubba Gumps went on for several hours and through several servers! LOL. We had a lot of catching up to do. The food was fantastic and we even managed to stuff ourselves with dessert. Since she is pregnant, she had an excuse for all the food she was putting away. Me? No excuse! But, it was good. It was hard to say good-bye, but we have some several more visits planned. I really miss them!
I do have to say I enjoyed New York…the crowds are kind of fun. It’s a great place to visit, not sure that I would be able to live there. Give me the slow pace of Oklahoma and the small town of Mustang and I am one happy gal!
I also saw Joan Jett in the airport…we were on the same flight. I tried to get a photo of her, but she was too far away and I wasn’t going to be a stalker!  I didn’t realize she was still ‘in the business’  LOL
