Thank you!

With our anniversary right around the corner I am feeling a little nostalgic, which is making me a little emotional…I know you’re not surprised! (hang on while I grab a tissue)

I’ve been thinking back over these last 30 years and all the people God has put in our lives.  People who have sewn into who we are today, in our relationship with God, our children, our grandchildren, and each other.  Friends & family as far away as Alaska, Florida and New England and as close as Oklahoma.

Keith’s Coast Guard career allowed us to live in a lot of different places. We have so many memories from each of our duty stations, life long friends, moments of growth and lots of laughs.

So, today I want to say Thank You!

Thank you to all of you, friends and family, who have believed in us,
loved us, counseled us, been examples for us, taught us,
laughed with us, cried with us, walked through our storms
and our triumphs, celebrated with us, but most of all, you loved us.
So much of who we are today as individuals and
spouses is because you lived life with us.

Thank you all for the encouragement and
love you have poured over us these last 30 years.

We love you all!

Stick around, there’s another 30 or more ahead of us and we still need you!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Journal find….

I’ve recently started reading a new book and decided I needed a journal to take notes in.  I rummaged through the bookshelf this morning and found one that only had a few used pages in it. (score) Written on those few pages were notes from a message dated back to May 2012.  After reading through the notes I realized it was a message our Pastor shared during a series on the 10th anniversary of Peoples Church.  There was a lot of great stuff noted on the pages, but one line in particular stuck out to me.

I love the heart of our church… even more that I have come to realize the truth in that statement. Grateful that God has changed my heart.

We are in a new series right now called ‘It’s OK Not to be OK’. The heart of our church has never changed over the years. It’s still ALL about seeing lives changed for Him.

‘God loves you just the way you are, but He doesn’t want to leave you like you are.’ Herbert Cooper #ItsOkNotToBeOk

Now is your time…I encourage you to find a place of worship that will help you realize your life in Christ.  Of course you are welcome to visit us…we have 3 locations..or you can watch online.

You matter to God!

God is pursuing you…it’s your such a time as this….the doors are open to you, just like they were open to me. God wants to walk beside you and help you realize all He created you to be.

It’s time to walk through the door……

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor,
but the sick. But go and learn what this means:
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’
For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:11-13 NIV

Running Together

When you run alone, you run fast.
But when you run together, you run far.”
 Zambian Proverb

I saw this quote in a post about running.  The first thing I thought about is the scripture in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12:

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each
other succeed. If one person falls, the other can
reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is
in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close
together can keep each other warm.
But how can one be warm alone? A person standing
alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can
stand back-to-back and conquer.
Three are even better,
for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
God never intended for us to do life alone; if He had, he wouldn’t have been concerned about Adam being alone in the Garden.  He specifically said it wasn’t good for man to be alone. (Genesis 2:18)

He made Adam a helper, Eve.

She was created to do life with him.

We all need that person in our life, someone we are accountable to, can cry with, laugh with and know if we fall they are there to pick us up.

I am Keith’s helpmate, I am here for him and he for me.  But, I also have friends that I keep close.

For you, it may be a friend, a parent, child or a spouse.  Whoever it is, it is important that you have someone you can ‘run with’.

We also need a relationship with our Creator.  He wants to walk along side us through the life he has laid before us. Our relationship with God is the foundation for our life relationships.

Community needs to be a part of your life.
Build a relationship with God and build a community of friends around you.
Find those people who will run along side you on your journey with God.

He never intended you do life alone.

I love the community that God has surrounded me with.
I love the relationships that I have built.

Running together…running far!
